SCVAF Receives Grant Friday, 23 January 2015 15:34 The Satellite Center Video and Animation Festival (SCVAF) recently received a grant from the River Region Arts and Humanities Council (RRAHC) for $1,000. The grant was awarded at the RRAHC’s General Membership Meeting in January. SCVAF founders Albert Dupont, ATVB Facilitator; Brian Gough, Interactive Media Facilitator; and Rhitt Growl, Digital Media Facilitator attended the meeting and accepted the grant on behalf of the Festival. The funds will be used to cover some of the operational costs of this year's Fest.
School Board approves Satellite Center Week Proclamation Friday, 23 January 2015 15:33 During the January School Board Meeting the St. Charles Parish Public School Board members approved a proclamation that declared the week of February 2 - 6 as Satellite Center week. At the meeting, the Board recognized Lasca Anderson, Administrator of the Satellite Center, and several of the Facilitators who were on hand for their hard work and dedication to the Satellite Center.
SCVAF Project Launch Friday, 23 January 2015 15:11 The Digital Media, Interactive Media, and Advanced Television Broadcasting (ATVB) Courses launched the Satellite Center Video and Animation Festival Project on January 7, 2015 at the Professional Learning Center (PLC); the site of the annual event. The Team Members were given an overview of the festival, viewed samples of past submissions, and were given a tour of the facility.

It is never too early to start thinking about your child’s high school educational experience. On Wednesday, February 4th, 2014 the St. Charles Parish Satellite Center will host an Open House from 5:00p.m.- 7:30p.m. You will have the opportunity to tour the facility, speak with facilitators and team members about their experiences, and learn about the exciting projects that they have completed.

Engineering Recruit Day was held at the Satellite Center on November 18, 2014. The Engineering Design Team Members facilitated activities during the event. 10th and 11th grade students from Hahnville High and Destrehan High attended. They were treated to four fun-filled activities under the guidance and direction of the Engineering Design Team Members.
Interactive Media Takes On The Wetlands Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:49
Recently the Interactive Media course put the finishing touches on two websites with a similar theme, a focus on the wetlands. The websites created by Team Members from this course were to help spread the word about the Wetlands Watchers Program, at Harry Hurst Middle School, and the Wetland Reveillon, an event that raises money for the Wetland Watchers Park in Norco, LA.
