R.K. Smith Career Day Sunday, 19 October 2014 22:50
Several Satellite Center Team Members and Staff recently participated in the annual R.K. Smith Middle School Career Day. The event, held Friday, October 10th in the R.K. Smith Gymnasium, featured over a dozen businesses, organizations, and universities from in and around the parish and state.
Greenhouse Clean Up Wednesday, 15 October 2014 20:49
The Digital Media Team Members worked with the ARC of St. Charles to help clean out their greenhouse so they can begin planting their next crop of tomatoes. The Team Members gathered and removed old plants, collected hanging clips, and removed watering lines from planters. They also sifted soil into small growing cups that will be used to plant seedlings.
Cafe Day at Satellite Center Wednesday, 15 October 2014 20:04
The Satellite Center Culinary Arts and HRT pathways held their first Café Day of the year on Wednesday, October 8, 2014.  The menu included a first course of Corn and Crab bisque and a Caesar salad with fresh tomatoes and crostini, a second course of paneed chicken breast with fresh tomato sauce and oven roasted zucchini, and a dessert course of pecan tart with chocolate sauce and banana ice cream.
Socialization Presentations Wednesday, 08 October 2014 21:43
On October 2nd, the STAR team members presented socialization topics to several counselors and central office personnel. The STAR members are interested in a career in education. Education is not just about teaching and learning; educators also need to understand the needs and personal issues of their students. Therefore, STAR team members were challenged to find an issue which effects student’s and which is being addressed in the schools.
Battle On The River Monday, 29 September 2014 15:10
In partnership with Press Play Productions, the Digital and Interactive Media courses at the Satellite Center have been working for the past month to bring you the Battle on the River game day experience like never before. Team members from these courses collaborated to create a new poster for the game, build the Battle on the River web site, create TV graphics to be used during the broadcast and will participate in the live game experience during the five camera broadcast. In addition, they will upgrade the event by providing photography, collecting website analytics and integrating social media into the broadcast.
