Fun with Physics at the Engineering Recruit Day Wednesday, 10 December 2014 15:55
Engineering Recruit Day was held at the Satellite Center on November 18, 2014. The Engineering Design Team Members facilitated activities during the event. 10th and 11th grade students from Hahnville High and Destrehan High attended. They were treated to four fun-filled activities under the guidance and direction of the Engineering Design Team Members.
Interactive Media Takes On The Wetlands Tuesday, 18 November 2014 14:49
Recently the Interactive Media course put the finishing touches on two websites with a similar theme, a focus on the wetlands. The websites created by Team Members from this course were to help spread the word about the Wetlands Watchers Program, at Harry Hurst Middle School, and the Wetland Reveillon, an event that raises money for the Wetland Watchers Park in Norco, LA.

Digital Media Team Members traveled to Destrehan High School and Hahnville High School to speak to students in their Digital Graphics and Web Design classes about their experiences at the Satellite Center. The Team Members shared information about the course, walked students through the design process they used to complete a project, and showed examples of their work. Mr. Growl, the Digital Media Facilitator, followed the Team Member’s presentation by sharing some career resources and in-sight into jobs in the digital arts field.

The Culinary Arts and HRT team members hosted an adventurous dining experience at their annual Halloween Gastronaut Café Day.  The event started with a charcuterie plate that included house made hogs head cheese, chicken liver pate, and ox tail rillette served with traditional accompaniments followed by a second course salad of arugula, fennel, goat cheese, and blood sausage croutons tossed in apple cider vinaigrette.

Recently, the Digital Media Team Members went on a field experience to Loyola University to tour the campus and sit in on one of their design courses. As the Team Members arrived, they were greeted by one of the school’s Admissions Counselors named Elliot Downey. Elliot gave the Team Members a brief overview of the school and all it has to offer. 
Bridge Busting at the Satellite Center Friday, 31 October 2014 13:12
The Engineering Design/Physics class conducted tests of their bridge designs on Monday October 27, 2014 at the Satellite Center (SC).  Nine bridges were tested to design load and then overloaded until failure.  Team members from other SC classes, as well as facilitators and administrators, were present to witness the testing.
