Engineering Visits Waterford 3 Wednesday, 29 April 2015 02:39 On Wednesday April 15th, the Engineering Design class had a field experience to the Waterford 3 Nuclear Power Plant. After passing a rigorous security check, the Team Members were allowed to enter the secure area of the plant.  The class was divided into several small groups. Each group was given a detailed tour by plant operators and engineers. The team members got to see, first hand, the power generation equipment, control room, and safety monitoring systems.
The Satellite Center Electronic Art Show Friday, 20 March 2015 02:00  
On March 5th, the Engineering Design class conducted its Electric Art Show.  The Engineering Team Members applied their knowledge of electric and electronic circuits, along with their artistic creativity, to design and build unique art forms.  The art forms included light, sound, and motion. The engineers spent many weeks working on their project.

Hannah McDuffie, a St. Charles Parish Public School’s Satellite Center team member and a senior at Destrehan High School, was recently named the S.T.A.R. (Students Teaching and Reaching) Student of the Year. To receive this award, Hannah competed with other talented STAR students and went through an extensive interview process. Among Hannah’s accomplishments are maintaining an A average in the college level STAR course, working with other team members to design and implement a service learning project, and reading to Carver Early Learning Center 3 and 4 year olds.
Giving Feedback To Students In California Wednesday, 25 February 2015 14:09
The Digital Media Team Members recently worked with Digital Media students from The Academy Charter High School in Santa Ana, CA to give feedback on presentations they created. The Academy Charter High students have been working on a project where they were tasked with creating t-shirt designs for their local hockey team the Anaheim Ducks.
Opening Our Doors to the Public Monday, 16 February 2015 21:07 The Satellite Center hosted its Open House Wednesday, February 4th. Over 250 visitors braved a cold and rainy night to venture out to the annual event. Prospective Team Members, parents, community members, and representatives from local businesses were given the opportunity to view current and past projects, learn about the different courses offered, participate in Team Member led demonstrations, and tour the facility. It also gave visitors the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the working environment with Facilitators and current Team Members.
Satellite Center Celebrates First 10 Years Thursday, 05 February 2015 15:16 The Satellite Center officially celebrated 10 years of “Building A Better You” by inviting all alumni, current team members and facilitators to a night of sharing memories, stories of success and insight on how the Satellite Center affected their lives. Over 200 people packed the hallways and work centers to reflect on their years spent at the center and catching up with past classmates. In addition, many of the Sat Center alumni were able to share their stories with current Team Members and offer up connections that could impact their future career plans.
